Formula
DRIFT kicks-off the 5th season in style on the infamous Long
Beach Grand Prix Street Course
The
Grand Prix of Long Beach Street Course has been around since
1977. Highlighted by the Champ Car World Series, the Long
Beach Grand Prix also has added the American Le Mans Series,
Atlantic Championship, Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race, and now
Formula DRIFT.
Formula
DRIFT is now in the 3rd straight year at the Grand Prix of
Long Beach Street Course and has expanded to have their own
event one week prior to the Long Beach Grand Prix.
Utilizing
Turns 9, 10, and 11 on the famous Long Beach Grand Prix Street
Course Formula DRIFT slides its way on the only actual street
course of the season. With a high-speed entry and very tight
spacing between the cars and the walls there is no room for
mistakes making the opening round one of the most exciting
and a great way to kick-off the Formula DRIFT Championship
2008 Season.
Round
1: Streets of Long Beach will kick off the 2008 Formula DRIFT
Championship in style with new cars, new drivers, and special
guests. For the first time ever Formula DRIFT will announce
and debut Miss Formula DRIFT. Special Guest Grand Marshall
will be none other than professional skateboarder and star
of MTV's "Rob and Big," Rob Dyrdek and he will be
doing a special parade lap in his Rogue Status Camaro. ALSO
Meet and get an autograph from UFC Light Heavyweight Champion
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson at the event.
The
Long Beach Grand Prix Street Course is the only track in the
circuit that is on actual city streets making it very unique.
With tight spacing between the walls and a high speed entry
there is no room for mistakes. The event features: a huge
vendor village where many giveaways and items will be on-sale,
a car show produced by Showoffcafe.com, skateboard contest
by Retaks, RC Drift Car demo, and much much more!
Can
Tanner Foust keep his winning streak going and defend his
title? Will Rhys Millen be able to compete? How will Daijiro
Yoshihara adjust to his new ride with Rhys' old Pontiac GTO?
